Artisan's District

Access this area by taking the western door from the palace courtyard. Here you will fight many umber hulks and blind minotaurs. Remember that the umber hulk's gaze can cause confusion, especially when they are close to you. So if at all possible, pick them off with missile weapons before they get too close to your party. They are also susceptible to magic; we used Chromatic Orb against them with great efficacy. Should you happen to become confused, Dispel Magic can usually remedy the situation. You can also use the Potions of Mirrored Eyes you found in Marketh's Lair. However, you may need those when dealing with Malavon, so you would be best served by saving those potions if at all possible.
Monsters: Blind Minotaur, Umber Hulk.
Areas of Interest
- Dead Body Just west of the domed building you will notice a small alcove of buildings. Walk toward them and umber hulks will burst through two doors. Kill them and walk inside to find the remains of what must have been a paladin. On the body you'll find Pale Justice (5-12 damage, +7 damage and THAC0 vs. evil creatures (+4 otherwise), provides immunity to Cloak of Fear, Horror, Dire Charm, and Symbol of Hopelessness, only useable by paladins).
- Exit You'll find an exit in the southwest corner that leads back to the main area of Lower Dorn's Deep.
- Exit This exit returns you back to Marketh's Courtyard.
- Entrance These steps lead to Malavon's chambers. Grab the scrolls below before entering.
- Treasure This barrel (2274, 1756) contains scrolls of Mordenkainen's Sword and Power Word: Stun.
- Treasure In this barrel (3074, 1710), are scrolls of Power Word: Silence and Monster Summoning V.
