  1. Exit This exit takes you back to level two.

  2. South Room Here we were attacked by two imbued wights, a mummy, and lots of zombies. There are three sarcophagi in this area: one is located to the left (1244, 1669), one to the right (1766, 1909), and one in the middle of the back wall (1440, 1858). We found the following in them: two Healing Potions, Potion of Stone Form, and scrolls of Chat, Shield, Color Spray, Magic Missile and Cure Light Wounds.

  3. North Room There are two traps in the doorway, and a mummy and shadows not far behind. Here you will find three sarcophagi: one on the left (2108, 415), one on the right (2725, 529) and one in the middle (2484, 353). The sarcophagi contained: Ancient Armor, two Mummy's Tea, two Potions of Strength, a Healing Potion and scrolls of Silence 15' Radius, Ghoul Touch, Shocking Grasp and Cure Moderate Wounds.

  4. Antechamber You will be attacked by another skeletal mage (1112, 823), skeleton archers, as well as spectral knights. We found a Short Bow +1 (+1 damage, +1 THACO) and five bullets +2 (4-7 damage, +2 THACO) on the bodies of the skeleton archers, and bracers AC 8 on the skeletal mage. Walk through the door in this room (fronted by a large paw print in the floor) to reach Kresselack.

  5. Kresselack Kresselack (361, 606) will tell you of his war-like history and conquests, as well as how and why his tomb was built. He'll ask you to perform a boon for him in exchange for information. The boon entails killing a priestess of Auril, whom he fears will desecrate his tomb and rob it of light and warmth.

To find the priestess, return to Cave Five (AR3001, located in the Vale just south of the large statue). Inside the cave, you will find Lysan (474, 398), the barmaid from the Root Cellar Tavern. Kill her to fulfill the boon. We found a Morning Star +1 (2-9 damage, +1 THACO) on her body. Return to Kresselack and tell him you've performed the boon for 13,000 XP. Although he does not tell you what evil is afflicting Icewind Dale, he does offer you the contents of his sarcophagus (338, 508): Potion of Healing, Plate Mail Armor, Fine Long Sword +1 (2-9 damage, +2 THACO), and Kresselack's Sword (2-11 damage, +1 THACO, +10% cold resistance).

After this is completed, return to Kuldahar and speak with Mirek (2089, 1709) if you have yet to do so. He'll be waiting in from of the Potter's home. We gained 2,400 XP and a Sling +1 (+1 damage, +1 THACO) by speaking with him. Also, don't forget to speak to Whitcomb (238, 152, AR2111), the barkeep at the Root Cellar Tavern. Tell him of Lysan, and ask for her belongings. We got two scrolls of Cure Serious Wounds, a Protection from Fire scroll, and The Mantle of the Coming Storm (cloak that casts Free Action on user up to three times, +1 AC bonus, 30% cold resistance, 30% fire resistance, +1 save vs. paralyzation). Once this is complete, speak to Arundel (259, 292, AR2112) and you'll receive 10,350 XP for your meeting with Kresselack. He'll ask that you retrieve the Heartstone Gem, an ancient druidic scrying stone. He'll update your map, and you'll be off to the Temple of the Forgotten God.
