Dark Alliance | Help | Walkthrough | Elfsong Tavern
Elfsong Tavern

The Elfsong Tavern is your base of operations in Act I. Here you will be able to buy and sell goods, take on quests and save your game. Come back to the Tavern often so that you can sell off items you find to keep them from weighing you down. You start the game fresh from a whack on the head and are forced into your first dialogue with Alyth Elendara.

Monsters: None

  1. Alyth Elendara: After asking Alyth about the voice, ask her about the beholder hanging above the fireplace. Once that is discussed, tell her about being robbed and she tells you the Thieves' Guilds are at war. She then offers you a job to clear out the cellar of rats. She tells you to talk to Ethon to get the key to the cellar door. Later in Act I, she will also have a rescue mission for you to perform.

  2. Ethon: Tell Ethon that you need the key and you find out he has been eavesdropping on your conversation with Alyth. Tell him you need the key and ask him about the rats. After he agrees to give you the key, ask him about the beholder hanging above the fireplace. When all is said, he gives you the key to the cellar door and a rusty dagger for you to fight with. Before you do anything else, go save your game.

  3. Save Game Pedestal: This is where you can save the game in the tavern. Press the square button and assign it a slot. Do this as often as possible! Always have a few different slots saved so that you do not loose two hours of work because of dying or the power going out. Now that you have saved the game, head over real quick and talk to Bartley.

  4. Bartley: The shopkeeper of the tavern is Bartley. He is your point of contact in Act I to buy and sell armor, potions and weapons. You will not have any gold right now to buy anything, but you do want to sell your clothes. That's right sell your clothes. They offer you no armor class bonus and take up 9 pounds in your inventory. Sell them to free up that weight so you can gather more goodies in the cellars. One very important item Bartley sells is the Recall Potion. When you can purchase them, make sure you always have a few on hand. Recall Potions teleport you back to the Tavern and then back to were you used it. This will save you from back tracking long distances back to the tavern. Visit Bartley often. Now go talk to Nebbish for a little side quest.

  5. Nebbish: The first side quest comes from Nebbish, a local patron that has been cut off from alcohol by Alyth. He asks you to find a bottle of wine for him. Agree to this task and go talk to Lortimer.

  6. Lortimer: Talking with Lortimer will get you nothing much but babble. It is time to head to the cellar. Open the door next to Alyth and head down the ladder to the west. Below you will find descriptions of the NPCs that can be found later in Act 1. As you follow along the walkthrough, you will see the details of the quests and how to complete them.

  7. Ipswitch: Later in Act 1, Ipswitch will be sitting a table smoking his pipe. Talk to him and he will give you a quest to find his family heirloom.

  8. Osala: Later in Act 1, Osala will be sitting at a table drinking her full of local swill. Talk to her and she will give you a quest to find her missing husband.

  9. Jherek: Later in Act 1, Jherek will be standing next to Ethon wishing to speak with you. Talk to him and he will give you a quest to investigate the Thieves' Guild.

  10. Keaira: Later in Act 1, Keaira will be sitting at the bar tossing down a few cold ones. Talk to her and she will give you a quest to find her spice box.

  11. Ladder to Cellars: This is the ladder down to the tavern cellars.

  12. Door: This door will take you outside to a very small map of the city. Later in Act 1 you will be able to access other areas via short cuts in case you find yourself without a Recall Potion.
