PlayStation 2 Dualshock 2 Analog Controller
Directional Buttons:
- Up/Down: Pressing the Directional Up or Down buttons will toggle a list of your known feats and spells. This is shown on the lower left hand side in the shape of an "L".
- Left/Right: Pressing the Directional Left or Right buttons will toggle between your equipped melee and ranged weapons. If you only have one weapon equipped, then pressing Left/Right will not do anything.
Left Stick: Character Movement. This will move your character around in the game.
Triangle Button: Jump. This allows the character to jump onto and over things. Press the triangle button and move the left stick in the direction you want to jump.
Square Button: Use/Action. This is a general-purpose button for the game. It uses things or causes an action to happen. You use it to open doors, pull levers, talk to NPCs, open chests, pick up items and save the game at save pedestals.
Circle Button: Use Feat or Spell. This activates the feat or spell your character has selected, if any. Hold the button down to continually use the feat or spell.
X Button: Attack. This button is used for attacking, using whichever weapon is currently equipped. You can break items, such as barrels, by using the X button. If using a bow, you can slightly depress the button to aim and then click harder to fire.
Select Button: Character Sheet/Level Up. The Select button is used to pull up the character's inventory/character sheet. When the character advances in levels, the select button is used to assign the skill points you earn.
Start Button: Pause Menu. This is an important button. When pressed the game pauses and the action stops. From the menu that comes up, you can load a new game, use a Recall potion, change the options of the game, exit back to the main menu or return to the game.
Right Stick: Rotate Camera Angle. This allows you to rotate the angle of the camera around the character, providing you a better view in some cases. This function is not available for all maps in the game. To reset the camera angle, press the stick downward.
Analog Button: This serves no purpose in the game.
R1 Button: Block. Holding down the R1 button will block incoming attacks. If a shield is equipped, you can hold blocking for an indefinite amount of time. If just using a weapon to block, it only lasts for a very short amount of time. If you have the feat Improved Blocking, you can use a weapon for an indefinite amount of time. You cannot block with a Bow.
R2 Button: Drink Health Potion. This will cause your character to drink a Health potion if one is in inventory. A Heath potion replenishes some of the character's hit points.
L1 Button: Automap Toggle. This will activate an overhead map of your location. Save points and water appear on this map along with your location as a yellow arrow. Pressing L1 again makes the map become smaller and move to the upper right of the screen. Pressing L1 again makes the map disappear altogether.
L2 Button: Drink Rejuvenation Potion. This will cause your character to drink a Rejuvenation potion, if one is in inventory. A Rejuvenation potion replenishes some of the character's arcane energy/mana.
Xbox Controller
White button: Automap Toggle. This will activate an overhead map of your location. Save points and water appear on this map along with your location as a yellow arrow. Pressing the white button again makes the map become smaller and move to the upper right of the screen. Pressing the white button again makes the map disappear altogether.
Black Button: Block. Holding down the black button will block incoming attacks. If a shield is equipped, you can hold blocking for an indefinite amount of time. If just using a weapon to block, it only lasts for a very short amount of time. If you have the feat Improved Blocking, you can use a weapon for an indefinite amount of time. You cannot block with a Bow.
