Baldur's Gate | Inventory | Armor and Clothing
Armor and Clothing

This section describes the armor and clothing that can be discovered in Baldur's Gate. Keep in mind that for Armor Class, lower is better and normally covers the range +10 to -10. Items like shields provide an AC bonus such as +1 which means you should substract 1 point from your character's AC when it is equipped.

Armor

Protective gear worn about the torso to keep enemy blades and fangs from your heart.
Boots

A traveler's feet may become weary, but should never be left unprotected. There are also several pieces of enchanted footwear to be found, which provide added benefits.
Cloaks

More than just a way to keep the rain from soaking you pack, cloaks often come enchanted with magical boons that will aid you greatly.
Gauntlets

Heavy gloves that make the dangerous life of adventuring a little more safe.
Girdles

Girdles and belts are worn around the waist, and often come with some sort of magical enchantment.
Helmets

Helmets protect your characters from critical blows to the head as well as adding to their overall defensive rating.
Robes

For those whose profession prevents them from donning armor, enchanted robes are an absolute necessity
Shields

Shields are quite useful for warding off enemy missiles and melee attacks, and can sometimes mean the difference between victory and defeat.
