Shields

Shields come in various sizes which determine the extent of protection they provide as indicated in the table. Bucklers are small wood or metal shields that are fastened to the forearm. The small shield, usually round of two feet diameter, and the medium shield, often a curved triangle of 3 to 4 feet in diameter, are attached to the forearm and steadied with the hand. Large shields are around 6 feet tall and heavy making movement difficult. Mages cannot use bucklers. Only Fighters, Rangers, Paladins and Clerics can use small, medium or large shields.
