Voice Communication
To easily communicate between players, Baldur's Gate supports voice communications software. Tales of the Sword Coast shipped with a special edition of Roger Wilco. They allow you to speak into your microphone and have your voice transmitted to the other game players, obviating the need to type your thoughts in the multiplayer chat window. These programs should be running before entering Baldur's Gate or using a game locator program like GameSpy.
Roger Wilco
Roger Wilco from Resounding Technology is akin to using walkie-talkies and can be voice-activated or used in key-depress mode. One client acts as host and setups the connection for others to join. Roger Wilco requires a microphone or headset for the PC which easily connects to almost all standard soundcards and a minimum 28.8K modem. Unlike Internet phone programs, Roger Wilco is specifically designed for to run with Internet multi-player online games without requiring an additional soundcard. The full retail version of the software supports 128 players simultaneously per channel without requiring a dedicated server. In order for Roger Wilco to work with Baldur's Gate, the following lines must be present in the GAMES.TXT file.
After Battlezone, insert the following line, as is, with quotation marks. Then save the file and start the program. Just be careful about talking during load screens as it will garble what you are saying.
