News, Upcoming Characters

News: May 3, 2001 - An email from Frank Green ("What about a group that consists of only the short-statured NPC's: Leader: A halfling Fighter/thief NPC's: Jan Janson, Korgan Bloodaxe, and Mazzy.") will undoubtedly spur my attempt to create such a party. If anyone else has suggestions, please send them in. Who knows, you might get lucky!

News: May 2, 2001 - Site officially launched by Planetbaldursgate---thanks!!!

News: May 1, 2001 - Added Male Cavalier Sir Calvin Meran (see Updates below);

Upcoming: Still tuning up some new characters: three types of summoners (Conjuror, Cleric and Druid); a 'dual' party (two custom characters), a 'triple' party (Kensai-Thief with Viconia & Edwin); a solo Totemic Druid/Fighter dual (level 11 Druid!); the Marx Brothers (all half-mages!); and four or five custom parties of six players (most found in the BG2 FAQ).

Fan Requests: If you have any special type of character or class you would like to see (but don't want to roll up yourself, just contact me and I'll see what I can do!)

The Four Stooges

This is a group of... um... well, let's just say they are significantly mentally and physically challenged. I rolled up a Fighter, Mage, Cleric and Thief and gave them only a '9' in their primary attribute. For example, Larry the Fighter has only a 9 Strength (the minimum allowed for a Fighter). Similarly the Mage got a 9 Int, the Cleric a 9 in Wis, and the Thief a 9 in Dexterity. I set one attribute to 18 for each character while all remaining attributes are at 12. The Mage 'Shemp' got an 18 in Strength while the others got 18s in other completely irrelevant attributes.

They also received skills completely inappropriate to their classes and/or attributes. For example, Larry got Two-Handed Weapon proficiencies yet is not strong enough to wield the Sword of Chaos. The mage spells are virtually worthless in the first dungeon (Clairvoyance, Infravision, Friends, etc). The only saving grace is that the Cleric was a high enough level to be able to cast Animal Summoning. Without that spell, I'm not sure the group could have made it through the first level.

The Thief Curly assigned all his Thieving points to Pickpocket (215!) while his other Thieving skills remained at 20 or below. He couldn't open anything! And of course, the Mage did not have Knock.

I found some great portraits for these guys, really funny.

Why four stooges? Well, I wanted one character of each basic class and it turns out that one of the original stooges, Shemp, quit the group early. That was when they picked up Curly to create the famous Three Stooges who are know pretty much throughout the world. Adding Shemp made it possible to have a Fighter, Mage, Cleric and Thief.

This was the goofiest party I have ever played! Great fun but somewhat frustrating. Maybe I'll give a special prize to anyone who can finish the game with them. By they way, they are not allowed to have any NPCs with them ever!
