Thanatos is 6'6 tall with black hair and piercing eyes. He was raised in Shadowdale, and had an unhappy childhood often being troubled by dark voices in his head. As he got older he hear the voices more frequently and his behaviour became more disturbing to the townspeople. He began to rant about the visions of destruction he had seen and began to revel in violence.

His descent into madness was complete when one winter evening terrible screams were heard from the house of his parents. The town's militia were summoned to the house and they broke down the door. Inside they found Thanatos standing over the bodies of his parents, covered in blood and laughing. Then as the militia rushed forward to grab him he leapt through a window and escaped into the darkened night. Once alone in the wilderness the dark voice revealed itself as a manifestation of the Dark God Cyric. Cyric offered an unholy pact to Thanatos, he would grant Thanatos dark powers in exchange for servitude and his soul. The insane Thanatos eagerly agreed and as such became a disciple of Cyric.

Over the next few years Thanatos travelled to Amn to do his God's bidding, and committed many foul acts before he was finally vanquished by a paladin of Helm.

Thanatos has now travelled to the Sword Coast so that he can hunt down and kill Bassilus and Mulahey who have greatly displeased the God Cyric. He is however currently wanted in Amn on multiple charges of murder and has a price on his head.

Thanatos is working on his own at the moment but is looking to band together with other evil characters to fight the forces of light. Any group that includes Thanatos should be careful not to upset him and prepared to tolerate his insane behaviour.
