Character Information (long biography)
Thorinian was born to Duergan Tressle, a nobleman an court official in Glantri, and an attractive maid-servant Maria Tuart at the unfortunate time of Duergan's marriage to his betrothed. Rather than face public ridicule, he decided to pay Maria to take the child away- unfortuantely she died due to complications in the birth and Duergan; in a blind panic the day before his wedding, entrusted his son to his younger scholarly brother, Darklone.

Darklone was not the most suited to tending to a child, devoting his life to magic and his studies; were he was Head Librarian and 'Reader of Tomes' in Glantri's Mage College. Instead Darklone turned to two old friends Angriff and Lorra, already parents, to tend to the child. From that moment on the child was adopted as a 'Blackspell', a name he has kept to this day.

Thorinian never had a normal childhood as such. By the time he'd reached his youth he already stood a foot taller than most children his age and was broader than the average man across the chest, he was as such treated much like an adult. By his mid-teens, Thorinian had already been enrolled at a local 'Battle College', where a former friend of Angriff taught the young lad all he could about the use of weapons, armour and combat tactics. Thorinian learnt fast and coupled with his growing strength and size, was equal to any man in the town with a sword- although his riding skils were a bit lacking due to the lack of a horse tall enough to seat him. This bothered him little however as he built upon his growing reputation by enlisting with the local militia and immediately showed his prowess when helping to repel a raiding party from the border's of the small town his family resided in.

About this time his elder sister returned from her wandering's around the cotinent. Praetia was a renowned bowman and a fine runner and between the pair they managed to win all the prizes at the celebration tournament after the end of the First Mage War. Immediately Thorinian was impressed by his sister's skills and completely taken by her stories of foreign lands, similarly Praetia was impressed with the development of her adopted brother and allowed him to accompany her on her travel's to the various tournaments across the globe. Not for the last time the pair were met with fierce opposition wherever they went, many competitors not taking lightly to the 'upstarts' success.

After five years travelling the globe the pair returned to Glantri only to find their home country rife with warring factions as the various Colleges of Magic squared off against each other; dragging the innocent populace of Glantri into a battle they understood little about. After assisting to rid a town of a small group of Dark Necromancer's, the unfortunate pair became embroiled in a personal vendetta with their 'Uncle' and the Arch Mage Rasta Kapach; who took lightly to the pair slaughtering his compatriot mages. Darklone immediately realised the pairs weakness', magic, and decided to give them a helping hand by enlisting the services of an Elven Fire Mage Roone Darkstone and also the staltwart dwarf Duncan Guardhelm a self professed hater of all things magical- who rumour founded could turn magic away from him just because of the sheer abhoration he felt for it. They also teamed up with Ochre Manus; a battle priest who also despised the evil Kapach, (and also all necromancy believing life and death was a strictly spiritual thing), and the hired blade Formonn Hawk, who's agenda was unclear but seemingly on par with their own.

The group of seven set off on the trail of the evil mage, eventually forcing the mage into a final showdown at his citadel in the far north when it was laid siege to by the combined forces of the 'Mage Colleges' and also the massed forces of the men-at-arms still loyal to the standing government. Forced to return and help in the defence of the castle, Rasta Kapach, brought with him six companions, each an equal to the various members of the opposition group. Before Thorinian and the group even made it within the citadel he was forced to abandon his sister and friends as he joined combat with the famed swordsman Intam Miskelow, the group continued on, each similalarly where split individually from the group into single combat with their opposite number so to speak. The final two combatatants were the two Arch Mages themselves. Already however Darklone had expended many of his spells in getting the group within the castle and main keep, and also in protecting them as they journeyed to the heart of the inner chambers. Rasta, meanwhile, had wasted nothing as he prepared for his arrival.
Immediately it was obvious Rasta had the advantage for magic whilst also being far more skilled with it's use, only the late arrival of Formonn gave Darklone the upper-hand as Rasta was forced to divide his attacks. After several minutes intense casting the air seemingly fizzed with magically charged atoms, Formonn already lay unconscious on the floor, a fireball seemingly incinerating him, only for a ring he'd discovered earlier to spare him from the brunt of the blast and allowing him to stumble free from the flames. Singed, but alive. Eventually, Rasta drew once to many times from his own life-force and Darklone watched in dumbfounded silence as a massive Earth elemental turned on it's master, as his power faded. Collapsing to his knees he dragged his aching frame over to the crushed frame and withdrew the holy symbol from under the mages' robes. Only to be magically entranced by the object as the spirit of the arch-mage attempted to enter his own mind. When eventually discovered several minutes later by the combined group, Darklone knew little about what had happened and still to this day is unaware which mage came off best (is he Rasta Kapach with Darklone's memories or vice versa). He was however permanently affected by the due as his hearing was ruined, forcing the mage to retire from his mage-work to develop new casting techniques.

The group finally reached the outsides of the wall's, just in time to see the battle finish between Thorinian and Intam. Thorinian's god blessed sword finally severing the warriors sword-arm at the elbow. Immediately the battle ended with that final stroke as Rasta' forces realised all was lost, much to the forces of Glantri's surprise as they were easily outnumbered.

With his name now written in the history books as the executioner of possibly the greatest swordsman of his generation, Thorinian embarked upon a career of unprecedented struggles and success', lending his vision and leadership to any worthy cause and his swordarm and indomnitable spirit to any in need. No struggle more exemplified this than when, in his twenty fifth year he single handedly held back a force of goblins in the Ulbeck pass on the border's of Karameikos, eventually slaughtering enough of the beasts to turn them away, just in time for the arrival of the Duke's cavalry to ride them down and finish them off.

Unfortunately at this time he also managed to acquire a major enemy in another Necromancer this time Elven, Arche Tarasque, who blamed Thorinian for the slaughter of his parents when his forces were absent fighting elsewhere. After several months of attempts on his life Thorinian eventually decided to take care of the mage enlisting the help of his friend and fellow warrior, Formonn Hawk. Unfortunately his friend was captured attempting to assasinate Tarasque and Thorinian was forced to risk his life in a challenge with the mage in order to spare his friend.
Entering into the demented mage's trap Thorinian proceded to make his way through the maze, slaying everything he met with a cold efficiency until he reached the central chamber's were he faced the mage in single combat. The mage used every trick he'd learnt and also posessed several artifacts allowing him to act much like a Vampire or Undead Liche, making his death very awkward for the swordsman who was taken by surprise when the mage seemingly rose from the dead and replaced his arm.

The combat ensued for hours, Tarasque dying several times, each time returning stronger and more composed whilst Thorinian slowly became more iritated with the seemingly indestructable. This stalemate continued until Thorinian eventually just grabbed hold of the mage and hurled him through an open portal, immediately the maze and construction around it began to crumble as the magic from the Necromancer faded. Seeing little choice Thorinian hurled himself after the mage, only hoping it didn't lead to the Abyss itself. He was surprised to awak in a foreign realm. Sand stretched for miles in every direction and only Green mountains in that far distance offered any suggestion of moisture. Within minute's he was fighting for his life against a massive sand-worm as it attempted to suck him beneath the loose surface. Sticking to the rocks, he finally navigated his way to what appeared to be a small outpost. After several minutes struggling to understand the inhabitants, Thorinian eventually figured that these were the remnants and descendants of former victims similarly thrown through the portal.

Within days Thorinian had ridden from coast to coast on a massive cow-like beast, searching for a hint of direction and a possible navigation point. Immediately he realised a few important factors- firstly there were no stars, secondly no sun as such, just unbearable brightness and thirdly the coast line was surrounded by many wrecks meaning that few people if any had ever escaped the isle commonly known as Elgar (history seemed to suggest named after a ship the El Garedi). He also discovered a second populace of Asian's much like those he'd met in Ethengar Khanate, whilst the East coast was settled by what he assumed were the original inhabitatnts of the isle, the Naribioan's. The final race existed on an isle seperate from the mainland section inhabited by a warlike tribe of Cat-like people, who were enemies to all Human's upon the isle.

Within months the isle witnessed a huge change in it's political situation as Thorinian organised the desert people into a working force and constructed 'safe' paths from the varios parts of Elgar to each other. They also constructed the first stone structure as a Keep was built around the largest well upon the isle, and soon after spread his influence to the Haroi, who took instantly to his ideas of organisation. Within two years the isle was thriving with the Naribioan's supplying the vast majority of fruits, vegetables, wines and skilled fishermen. Whilst the Haroi bred livestock and existed much like they did in Ethengar upon the wide plains. The Elgarians meanwhile produced steel for weapons and also manufactured produce such as clothing (from fine silk plants grown on the vast plains to the north) and simple tools for farming and working.

The calm serenity of the isle was shattered with the emrgence of the Rakasta under the leadership of Tarasque who Thorinian believed no longer lived. They systematically began to lay waste to the outposts set upon the coastline and also began raiding coastal villages. Organising his forces the Elgarians marched to the coast supported by a dozen or so mounted warriors from Haroi and also a few close friends from each nation. The Naraboian's supplied ten's of dozen's of small craft as the force was shipped across to the small isle and the Rakasta. The battle was long and hard fought with the only the more tactical organisation of the human forces winning out on the day, the final stroke again by Thorinian as the Necromancer was struck down by a poultice filled with blessed water and herbs blinding the elf and destroying what was left of his features as his body had already began to decay with the permanent use of the artifacts. The mage was eventually dragged outside into the moonlight to wait for the eventual emergence of the sun, and his death.

Eventually Thorinian made it back to the mainland, after Darklone eventually divined his location. He was immediately slung into another war against the growing plague of undead hordes and linked up with former partners to form a new party.

'The Seven' retained Thorinian, Duncan, Formonn, Praetia, but also acquired Ishtar and Brightstarr Bukerum, two loyal if undirected youths and of course the venerable Darklone. The group helped to slow the hordes advance into Karameikos by defending the mighty 'Twin Peaks' mountain heights from a zombie dragon and a host of other evil beings. They then managed to become embroiled in the unfortunate death of the Crown Prince of Canolbarth, the elves took a sever dislike to this and the party spent several years searching for the truth behind the 'accusations', whilst also lending their weight to the cause of good against the forces of death.

After a few epic battles, and the eventual resolvement of the death of the Crown Prince, Thorinian returned to his homeland and discovered his true heritage. Returning to his family home he confronted his younger brother and made it know of his existence to all dignitaires at his home. He then immediately stepped down, allowing his brother to continue his work as the Duke whilst all h claimed were his Grandfather's Ancient armour and the might 'Ahrable Blade' to replace his own blessed weapon lost in his escape from Canolbarth.

Now considered retired, he resides in his palacial home on the outskirts of Specularum with his Elven wife and several children, the eldest of which Blake and Drake (twins) are showing exceptional promise in their differing careers. His land now spans from the border's of Ylarum in the East, North to Rock Home surrounding the southernmost tip of Canolbarth and to the west half the distance to Darokin city. Most of which he forcibly claimed from the Darokin state after their involvement in the Crown Prince's death.

However little is known about how long he'll stay in this peceful state as hes always involved in military politics and delegation, so who knows when he may next wield his blade in battle.
