Apoptosis Shang was born in the Forbidden City in Kuo Te'Lung where his father ruled the Shou Lung region for many years. His father, a great and powerful Emperor/Mage, was extremely hard on the young Apoptosis preparing him for a life of leadership. Apoptosis inherited his father's natural ability for magic, but not his desire to rule. In fact he has sworn off all the laws of man and nature. He is often quoted saying, "I am the only truth, and I am more powerful then any of your laws". Before he could claim his rightful throne his father was assassinated and the Shang Empire was destroyed. Apoptosis fled his homeland with only his life, his magic ability, and the discipline his father taught him. Since then he has been traveling the realms seeking magical knowledge from whoever will teach him, and has hence become very powerful.
