The Story of Azrael starts in the Northwestern quadrant of Blood
Pine, a huge forest land 140 miles east of Sword Coast, were he was the
son and promising apprectice of Maltius, the town butcher. Azrael had a
promising future, his apprenticeship was going well and he was a credit to
his proffesion, when there was an invasion by the Hobgoblin Elite. The
monsters shuffled onto the beach with the fury of a pit bull and the power
of a god, they quickly overwhelmed the moderately defended town of Blood Pine
slaughtering the every man, woman and child in site. when the carnage was
finished the horde fished through the ashes searching for survivors that
could fall to their blades. General Kahn Lavec, second in command for the
invasion, was one of the creatures who searched for the survivors or
corpeses for which to feast on, when he came across young Azrael. As he lunged forth at the young boy, Azrael began to feel a severe pain like his insides were melting, and he quickly changed form into wolf. Lavec, amazed at the site, stumbled and fell to the ground, and Azrael took advantage of the moment and tore the monster's throat out with his teeth. Azrael ran off into the woods, and although some of the soldiers saw him they paid little or know attention and carried out their buissness.
For days Azrael wandered the forests when an old man by the name of
Patherium found the young "wolf", he took him in and used dispel magic to
return him to his original form. Patherium offered to take Azrael in as
his apprentice, Azrael accepted in hopes it would help him to find the revenge he so longed for. Patherium educated Azrael in the Occult for 30 years, when Azrael decided he was ready to show the monsters his wrath. Against Patherium's wishes Azrael set forth to obliterate Evil doers who dared attack or push around the innocent. Although the pusuit of pure good was Azrael's intention, when he heard that legions of Hobgoblins were moving westward toward Sword Coast (some of which were part of the army which destroyed his life 3 decades ago) he had to settle the score.
