Ran is a half-elf who appears to be around 30 years old, when he is
actually only 18. He has sickly pale skin, blue hair, harsh green eyes
and is slightly muscular. He seems very kind, helpful and eager to please,
but he himself never seems happy. When asked about past, he sits down
with his hands upon his face, and begins to explain.
He was a popular and happy child with a good home and a family that owned
and operated a small-town bank. Around the age of five he had began to
hear horrible voices that would tell him to go forth and kill small animals
from the woods near his home. Unable to understand, he would. In later
years, they had begun to get progressively worse, telling him to hurt
other people from town, family members, and even himself. Under all his
ablity, he was able to resist them. Nobody around him knew. Finally, one
day "something bad happened" and then everyone from his small town found
out, but he was met with mixed reactions. Some felt sympathy or pity,
others turned their backs to him forever. Still, in his early teen years,
he managed to become a Conjurer by profession, a mage dealing with the
conjuration of objects and the summoning of creatures. This new combination
of power and his condition quickly made him a total social outcast. He
then became a drifter, living out on the main roads by himself. Although
he doesn't talk about details, he claims that one fateful day the voices
finally left him, but at great personal cost. Emotionally, he became a
meer shell of the person he was. Afterward, he seemed to be able to return
to society without threat of harming the innocent.
Most of the time, he is joined by a young woman named Vaxia Soulweaver,
a thief who shares the same kind of mental state as himself. Just from
the way he talks about her, it would seem that he loves her and would
protect her with all his life, but the two seem more drawn to each other
more so out of necissity to survive than as soulmates. The exact nature
of their relationship not known by anyone, perhaps even themselves. They
travel together over the Sword Coast, looking for any kind of work they
can accquire.
