(Take your shoes off boys, stay a while, this'll take longer my slideshow
of the family trip to Burkina Faso!):
Khili was born in Athkatla to a loving, but poor, family. As you all well
know, Athkatla is a merchant city, thusly making life extremely hard for
the lower classes. Despite these hardships, the L'a'Cheza family had strong
lineage, since his mother was descended of the hero Balduran.
Shortly after Khili's birth, his father and mother found work as scullery
servants in the home of a very rich noble, a kind man, who recognized
these peoples worth. Unfortunately, the noble, who's name was Titus, could
not openly befriend either of Khili's parents, due to the scar it would
put on his, admittedly undeserved, reputation. Khili's mother, Diane,
was promoted to the head of scullery servants, and his father put into
a slightly higher position, so that Titus could contact them.
Titus was an impressive man, but was belittled by Kilian, Khili's father.
See where Khili gets his name!? They became friends, and Kilian was promoted
to head financial advisor to Titus. In one year, Titus saved much, gained
much more, and so did the L'a'Cheza's.
Titus also recognized Kilian's amazing skill with a blade. He single handedly
took on a group of six rogue Cowled Wizards. Titus also saw this ability
in his son, Khili.
When Khili was of age, he was put to work in Titus's stables, also using
real-world sense to improve the way it was kept. Titus now, after a few
short years, had gained money, property, and a few friends. Alas, the
L'a'Chezas were still in poverty due to large debts with Nobles who lent
them money, stores, and passing merchants. Titus hated seeing this happen
to his
friends, because he knew the Kilian wanted Khili in a Melee school. Titus,
being a gracious and wise man, paid these debts for them, and put Khili
in tutelage under an expert swordsman named Peter.
In a single year, Khili had nearly surpassed him in skill, and a year
later, at 15, he did. Khili had learned a multitude of things, but favored
the double Katana style overall. He went on the several other schools,
learning a wide range of things, but still remained a fighter through
and through.
At the age of twenty, he had already achieved what we would know as 17th
level. He left home at 23, with Titus's daughter, Naomi at his side. She
was what we would call a 10th level Mage. Both Khili and Naomi grew in
skill in their time in the wild, forming a small adventuring party. The
other two were a Halfling fighter named Mirianne, and an Avariel elf priestess
named Erin. They later joined with a Ranger named Corthin.
After 12 long years, many fierce battles, and a few new possessions, the
group retired the adventuring business. But it was far from over. Khili
and Naomi wed, finally, after almost ten years of maddened love. The group
decided that the areas east of Amn and Baldur's Gate needed civilization,
so, they built a tower. Not a large one, but it suited the purpose. After
a few years of hiring carpenters to build new houses, and putting families
in them, they need more and more help. After building a second town, a
reliable system of guards had been established. Inhabitants were many,
and resources
were plentiful. A few new things happened, such as an attack by Candlekeep,
because the library at the tower became a better one than Candlekeep's.
Tethtoril now controls Candlekeep, since he had killed Ulraunt in self
defense. Tethtoril's new position suits him well, since Ulraunt was weaker
and not as learned as Tethtoril. Ulraunt died senile and upset. Much has
gone on, including an attack on the tower by a small army of Wyverns,
mephits, and a few big dragons. Corthin and Naomi alone managed to kill
one of the rouge dragons, but the other proved to be a much larger problem.
In a single blow of it's mighty breath, the dragon killed over 100 of
the tower guard, melted the weapons and armor of others, and set almost
every building in the complex on fire. When it fell, a powerful magic
was released, enough to destroy a small forest, and leave a hole the size
of Athkatla. The
dragon, who's name was Nash'yi'ati, now serves as armor, weapons, and
the like for our heroes.
